JUST ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE

Dr. Charles Krauthammer has a very good column id The Washington Post that you may have missed.  In my never ending effort to keep you well informed, I have posted a link to his recent column below entitled “Obamacare’s war on jobs”.

Dr. Krauthammer mentioned the Democrats response all the lost jobs as the result of Obamacare.   They defend this as a good thing because these jobs are being given up voluntarily.   Obamacare subsidies will allow people to leave unfulfilling jobs to pursue their passions: “Think of an economy where people could be an artist or a photographer or a writer without worrying about keeping their day job in order to have health insurance.”

So basically “Don’t worry, be happy” welcome to the socialistic utopia.  Oh, and don’t worry about that old cliché “the government will eventually run out of other peoples money” our government will simply borrow some more from China.  You probably thought I was going to bore you with a lot of nonsense about how people would lose the incentive to better themselves with things like education, hard work, etc.

There is one small problem that I am somewhat concerned about.  After we become so deep in dept to China that they decide to not loan us any more money, they will have no other option except to take over the United States in payment for the debt.  After they do that, will they be able to support all of us unemployed artists, photographers, philosophers, and otherwise good time Charley’s living here in paradise?   

I shouldn’t let that bother me, I’m sure the Democrats have that figured out.  I mean, just look at the excellent job they did designing Obamacare.

Obama Lied Then, and He is Lying Now

In 2009, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) apologized profusely to the White House for shouting, "You lie!" as President Barack Obama told Congress that Obamacare would not cover illegal immigrants.  Now it would appear that the White House owes Wilson an apology, as Covered California--the flagship of state Obamacare exchanges--is recruiting illegal ("undocumented") immigrants to sign up for the program, regardless of their eligibility.

The Covered California website includes a special page entitled: "No temas si eres indocumentado/a y quieres inscribir a tu familia en un seguro médico" ("Fear not if you are undocumented and want to enroll your family in health insurance"). The website goes on to explain that information shared with Obamacare cannot be shared with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It does not explicitly warn that illegal aliens are ineligible.

"According to the laws and implementing regulations," the website says, "the information provided by individuals for coverage can not be used for purposes other than ensuring the efficient functioning of the insurance market (Covered California) or administration of the program, or to verify certain eligibility determinations including verification of the immigration status of these people." 

As Bloomberg News notes, Latinos have been slow to sign up for Obamacare, partly because of problems with the Spanish-language version of the Obamacare website, and partly because some immigrant families are afraid of providing information to the government or using public assistance, among other factors. Covered California is devoting additional resources to recruiting more Latino enrollees before the deadline at the end of March.

Obamacare has been under greater pressure to produce impressive enrollment numbers as the program comes under more intense scrutiny from politicians and the public, providing a possible motive for recruiting illegal aliens to enroll. Earlier this week, the federal government announced that 3.3 million people had signed up nationwide, but that included people who had not yet paid, and actually represented a slowing rate of enrollment, with too few young people joining the program.

Democrats, allied with the news media, were all too willing to portray President Bush as an incompetent fool.  They were downright nasty disrespectful.  This went on from day one of his presidency.   Pelosi perpetuates this lie knowing its all part of the "strategy". 

But, with the Mainstream media on her side, a lie told often enough becomes the truth to them.  

Actually, they are partially right.  Bush was not treated this way, he was treated far worse.  For the media to claim otherwise is a blatant lie.  They did not just criticize Bush, they hated him and made movies about him being assassinated.   This video shows the truth, but Democrats are not interested in the truth.

Unfortunately too many conservatives still haven't wrapped their minds around how absolutely committed the modern Democrat party is to the "fundamental transformation" of the Republic.

It's past time to stop playing nice, and taking the high ground with these lunatics.  They need to be called out, shamed, and ridiculed at EVERY opportunity.  Unless/until that happens, the Democrats aided by the leftist news media, will set the agenda, and the electorate's perception.

I have come to the conclusion that there are only three kinds of democrats.

1.  The Uniformed Democrat

2.  The Liar

3.  The Damned Liar

Why carrying a gun is a civilized act

The Gun Is Civilization

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it,

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat - it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed.

People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.

People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don’t constitute lethal force, watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier, works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.

The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply would not work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded . I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those  who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation... And that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act !!
