Since the
latest school shooting, there has been a lot of discussion about what the
minimum age to purchase various types of firearms should be. In particular semiautomatic
weapons like AK-47, AR-15, and even hand guns.
I really don’t think any child
under the age of 18 should have access to any type of firearm without adult
supervision. However, if an 18 year old
has been trained in how to handle and fire the weapon, then he is not too young,
but without proper training, he very well may be. HOW ABOUT THIS; no one under the age of 21 can
purchase or own any firearm unless and until he has attended a certified
training course.
When I was a kid, most kids were
trained how to handle guns buy their fathers, but these days many kids are
raised in homes where there is no father. Some public schools use to teach gun
safety but they quit doing that many years ago.
Of
course there is also the bigger question of mental stability which I discussed
in the following blog post: https://cyberpolyticks.blogspot.com/2018/02/posible-reason-for-all-school-shootings.html
