What is an assault weapon?

If I attack you with a baseball bat; that bat IS AN assault weapon. The same applies with a stick or a rock.  And that is a fact.
There is no such thing as an assault weapon except for actual weapons which have been used for the purpose of committing an assault.
If you ask a LIBERAL what an assault weapon is, there are a few common answers you will hear.
1.    Military style weapons
2.    Simi-automatic weapons
3.    High capacity weapons
4.    AR-15 style weapons

None of these answers are correct for the reason I explained above, but IF I had to pick one to be labeled, I would have to say a “fully automatic weapon”.  Of course it is illegal for civilians to own one, and has been illegal since before I was born, and I’m almost as old as dirt.
The AR-15 has been getting a lot of attention in recent months, and most people don’t even know what it is.  Here's something that even liberals might understand. Maybe even some of the people pushing for gun control or the repeal of the 2nd Amendment.

The first thing everyone should know is that the “AR” does NOT stand for “assault rifle, and it does NOT stand foe “automatic rifle.  It stands for Armorlite; which is the name of the company that invented it.

Owning AR-15s or any other semiautomatic weapon is EVERYONE'S right, except for minors, criminals and the "insane".  Why? Because it is our scientific and natural right to self-defense and the defense of our loved one's against all enemies and threats, whether it be foreign or domestic.

Just like an animal in the wild has the right to survival through self-defense with whatever best suited means nature gave it, we have the right to own whatever weapons we choose for survival in this dangerous, screwed up world.

God or nature, whichever you believe in, gave us the intelligence to advance weaponry to defend against enemies.  The AR-15 design was invented in 1957, and production of it began in 1959.  The design is over 60 years old. If anything, we should be buying an even BETTER weapon. But the AR-15 is significantly less expensive for basic models, plus it's tried and true just like its Military cousins, the M-16 and M-4, both of which are capable of firing fully automatic. The AR-15 does not.

The 2nd Amendment is not about hunting. Not about any specific model, or rate of fire or function. It is about keeping the most suitable weapons of the times we live in. They (the Forefathers) did not intend for Americans to be limited to a musket when it came time to defend against tyranny or perpetrators when the enemy has more advanced firepower.

The whole reason for the 2nd Amendment and its non-expiring style of wording is for it to continually be used as protection (That Shall Not Be Infringed) against tyranny in the event it ever rears its ugly face again. Even a thousand years from now.  They fought for themselves and for future generations to keep that right of freedom.
