COPS LEARN EXPENSIVE LESSON

Confiscating Camera Phone Costs Cops $250,000

This happened because far too many Police Officers simply do not know the law.  This is just one of many cases like this.  It’s been happening all over the country.

It goes without saying that anyone whose job is to enforce the law MUST know the law to do the job.  At the very least, they should know that the right of a citizen to document the actions of their public servants is guaranteed by the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The Baltimore Police Department knows it now, but they pain dearly to learn the lesson.  According to The Baltimore Sun, the Baltimore PD has agreed to a $250,000 settlement to end a lawsuit filed by Christopher Sharp after the police confiscated his phone and deleted video he’d recorded of Baltimore officers making an arrest.
