Is it white people’s duty to help black people?

CNN’S Don Lemon Says it’s Time for White People to Be Their Black Brother’s Keeper

Hey Don, that’s what all those years of affirmative action were all about.  And I agree it did a lot to help black people who truly wanted to improve their station in life.   But it s pointless to try to help someone accomplish something they have no desire to do.

Face the facts Don.  Some people just have no desire to improve.  If they did, they wouldn’t wear their pants four inches below their anus.  And they would practice speaking real English rather than ghetto slang.  And they wouldn’t include profanity in each and every sentence. And they would take advantage of all the opportunities out there to learn an occupation, any occupation.  You don’t have to be a brain surgeon or a rocket scientist to make a decent living.

Wake up and smell the coffee Don.  Some people choose to live off of crime and/or government handouts.    How about black men doing something to help themselves?  Would that be asking too much?

Your remarks seems to suggest that it’s white people’s fault that many black men choose a life of crime over the responsibility of work and raising a family.   Well, I don’t speak for all white people but, I personally do not feel a responsibility here.  I think white people have already done enough with the affirmative action program.   For years now, black job applicants have been hired ahead of more qualified whites, and the same goes for college scholarships.

I don’t make black men commit crime.  I don’t force black men to father children and then abandon them.  Even more, I know for a fact that nothing I do will change any of this.  If someone doesn’t want to improve his station in life there is nothing I can do or say that will change that.  There’s nothing anyone, other than black men themselves, can do about it.  We’ve been throwing money and good intentions at this problem for generations and it hasn’t done a damn thing.

Your statement that white people bear a responsibility to help out black men is both misguided and foolish.  It not only takes the responsibility off of black men, but also perpetuates the ridiculous notion that they are completely incapable of helping themselves.  Nothing will improve for black men as long as they use the race card as an excuse for not doing the right thing.
