Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) said the crimes committed by illegal immigrants is the driving force behind his move to secure the U.S.-Mexico border with the Texas National Guard.

He also said a record number of illegal immigrants from Syria, Pakistan and Afghanistan have been apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border. 

As wave after wave of illegal immigrants — at least a fifth of whom are gang members and assorted criminals rather than innocent “children” — have invaded our country, politicians on the left side of the aisle have been whining and sermonizing about how we need to grant them all amnesty.

Ebola, Chikungunya, Dengue, Norovirus, Hantavirus, Swine flu, Varicella, Variola. The names sound like something out of a sci-fi movie. Yet, threats to Americans are real, and escalating by the week.  The Department of Homeland Security, or DHS, reported on Aug. 1 that serious diseases are spreading at detention centers for Illegal border crossers.  Health-care workers and Border Patrol agents, plus their children, have tested positive for tuberculosis (TB), swine flu, chicken pox, lice and scabies.  Instead of being quarantined, illegal border crossers are being dispersed rapidly across the U.S., with those of school age being registered in public schools opening soon for all.

The Border Patrol Council reports that 75 percent of illegal border crossers are from countries around the globe, other than Mexico.  They are bringing diseases not common to, or eradicated from, the U.S. 

As unaccompanied minors continue to illegally cross the Texas-Mexico border, President Obama’s Health and Human Services (HHS) has been quietly releasing them onto U.S. soil.  A total of 30,340 unaccompanied minors have already been released from federal custody and placed into foster homes, according to HHS’ Office of Refugee and Resettlement (ORR).  While many migrants have been released in border states like Texas and California, others have been set free in Alaska.
