By now, unless you’re living in a semi-coma,
you’ve heard about the CEO and co-founder of Mozilla (and inventor of
JavaScript) Brendan Eich, who was forced to resign because of his $1,000
donation to Prop 8 six years ago.
Yes, it really was SIX years
ago. If you happen to be one of those
who actually are living in a semi-coma, you can read the story HERE.
I have always been more or
less a Libertarian on matters such as homosexuality and same sex marriage, as
you can tell by reading my profile. But this changes everything, and it may be
time to think about rewriting by profile.
Last December, I wrote a post about homophobia. Today I want to introduce you to a new word,
“HOMOFASCISTS”. I know it’s a new word because my computer has flagged
it as misspelled. But what else would
you call these people? They won the
battle. Proposition 8 was defeated. Now they want to punish everyone who
supported it, even to the point of ruining their career. There's an old saying "no one likes a sore loser". I think that is even more true for "sore winners".
Mozilla was wrong in forcing
this man to resign for merely exercising his first amendment right six years
ago. They did so because they thought it
would be a good business decision.
An online dating website discovered his donation and launched a boycott of Firefox. This led to Eich’s swift resignation as CEO of Mozilla and an apology from the company, which asked for forgiveness from activists for not moving “fast enough to engage with people once the controversy started.”
This is very disturbing for a number of reasons. Namely, Eich did nothing wrong in financially supporting a political cause. In fact, donating to a voter initiative should be applauded not condemned. It is the right of every American to get involved in political activity by donating or volunteering.

I think we should all send
them a message. I own eight computers,
all of which HAD both IE and Mozilla foxfire installed. I deleted foxfire from all of them, and I
recommend everyone do the same.
Freedom is hanging on by a thread, America, and it is those “HOMOFASCISTS” who are the intolerant ones, and they are determined to take away your first amendment rights once and for all.
